Why Attend a Class Reunion?

Found these while looking around on the web today...

Top 10 Reasons to Attend the Reunion

1. You and your high school friends can drink – legally.
2. If you don’t show up, we will assume you still have a perm.
3. Because you wish you knew back then what you know now.
4. It’s a great excuse to go shopping for a new outfit.
5. C’mon, what’s an extra 20 pounds among old friends?
6. To show off pictures of your kids/step-kids/grandkids/dogs/pets
7. To make up for all of your unexcused absences
8. To show off your hot spouse/partner
9. You want to – you know you want to!
10. Because there are people who still care about you from
back in the day!

10. Everyone will be talking about you if you don't come.

9. To see how many more singles there are now than there were at the past reunions.

8. So your kids can have a chance to throw a party at your house ... without you!

7. To see who's had the most plastic surgery and who knows the best plastic surgeon.

6. To give you a good reason to stay up past 9:00 p.m.

5. To see who wins the award for having the most joint replacements.

4. To give you the incentive to try the latest diet, enroll in a health club and start exercising.

3. To have the chance to reconnect with old friends and old flames.

2. To see if you can still find and recognize local hangouts.

And the #1 reason to attend your High School's reunion Is:

1. To see who still has hair, if it's real, what color it is and where!

TOP 10 Reasons to ATTEND Your High School Reunion!

1. You'll laugh and reminisce with some of your oldest friends.
2. You don't have to lie about your age!
3. Feel better realizing you are not the only one who has been married, divorced, married, divorced, and is still looking!
4. If you are coming to your first reunion, you will feel fully appreciated for finally showing up!
5. Rekindle or begin new relationships!
6. Even if you had some negative experiences in high school, don't fret about it! You'll most likely laugh about it now!
7. Enjoy an evening out without the kids or grandkids!
8. Use the reunion as an opportunituy to get back into shape!
9. Humor the committee! They usually are a bunch of deluded diehards who think everyone should be there!
10. And, finally... studies have shown that those who were initially hesitant about attending their reunion, discover it was the event they wouldn't have missed!

Ideally, reunions evoke wonderful memories and jovial reminiscing!
How can anyone refuse that?

Worried what the old high school crowd will think?

Alleviate class reunion anxiety by planning ahead: map out pre-event beauty treatments, shop early, get the hairdo down weeks ahead and go the "less is more" route with fashion.

Choose classic, flattering silhouettes in solid colors and let a low-key outfit put the focus on you, not your clothes.

Little Black Dress

The little black dress is a safe bet for an evening reunion. The exact length of the dress (right above to right below the knee) and details such as sleeveless or short sleeve will depend on how much skin you are comfortable showing. Add a bright wrap for chilly evenings, dress up with sexy sandals and a bold bracelet.

Evening Suit

If you're more comfortable wearing a suit than a dress, opt for an after-five style (black, champagne or ivory in crepe or silk). Skip the beads and sequins (too aging add shine and sophistication with a same-colored shell in satin or lace.

Dressy Pantsuit

Don't wear skirts? Try a tux-style pantsuit in black or white. Celebrities may get away with skipping the shirt underneath, but you'll want to add a simple camisole or shell.

Outdoor and Casual Events

Some reunions span an entire weekend. If your plans include picnics, pool parties or other family-oriented outside events, go with the same strategy as evening events. Opt for understated outfits: a pretty sundress, a dark maillot with a sarong, cropped pants and a cute Tshirt. Skip complicated looks, uncomfortable styles or fussy prints.

Accessories

Now's the time to bring out the good jewelry. Use pearls for a classic look; brighten black with gold or silver. An evening shoulder bag is ideal (you'll be too busy hugging old friends to lug around a clutch). Add instant sex appeal with strappy sandals (go with bare legs, faux tanned if necessary).

Dos and Don'ts

•Don't skimp on grooming - Glowing skin, healthy hair, manicured nails and toes are essential. Depending on how far you are willing to go (and how much you can spend) now is the time to try "extra" treatments like professional highlights and microdermabrasion.
•Do shop early - Once you have a date and an idea of the dressiness of the event, you can start the search for an outfit. Locate the dress before you buy shoes or accessories.
•Do update your look - A new outfit doesn't have to be young and trendy; it does need to show that you've progressed over the years and pay attention to changing styles. Make sure you hair and makeup have changed over the years, too.
•Don't dress too young - With today's advances in skin and body treatments, it's not impossible to look really hot at your 50th high school reunion. But don't be tempted to show off your girlish figure with skintight dresses, miniskirts and multiple body piercings: you'll look ridiculous. Instead, show off a great figure with chic body-skimming sweaters, beautifully cut sheath dresses or skirts that show off your toned gams.
•Don't worry too much - Everyone else is stressing too! Once you get there and start seeing old friends, catching up, sharing baby pics and swapping email addresses, you'll find that your preoccupation with looks will start to disappear

Can you really believe that more than 31 years ago tonight, October 6, 1978 we were just mear children...not more than 17 or 18 years old...

It was a Friday night, Homecoming...per my memory book..it was a very cold night.
The game was Cohn High Black Knights vs Stratford High Spartans the final score...Cohn 7, Stratford 20...So now we know the score from our senior homecoming football game...we lost...

I was asked by Judy Redmond to post this. She is an Alumni and is over the Senior Center at the school. This event raises much needed money in order to help keep it a float. If you get a chance to stop by and support them, it will be greatly appreciated. Many of you have family members that attend the Senior Center.

The Alumni BBQ

The Class of 1979
Jeff Smith, Travis Ford
Debi Vernon-Eaton, Cynthia O'Riley Neely
Our class had 4 member at the Homecoming Alumni BBQ tonight at Cohn High School. There was a LARGE turn out...or at least Cynthia and I thought so. Now we were on a mission of getting the word out to all the other classes about the Friday night reunion party at Graham Central Station. Cynthia printed 100 flyer's to pass out....So I think we got the Alumni covered almost.
It was great to see how nice the alumni center has turned out. There a great collection on things on display from all the classes. Angela donated her old majorette uniform, some cheer leading things...Cynthia has her flag that is going to have a home there. I think Jeff Smith is going to find his old football helmet and donate it. If there is anything that any of you still have and would like to donate just shot Yvonne Evens a email @ vonn10ec@aol.com
I wish now that I had taken more pictures...but didn't. Outside going up the stairs to the gym, if you remember there is a block wall...I told Cynthia no way is there any graffiti from our days...well I was wrong! up at the top on the left side, there was Terry Pruitt's name and many more that has not been touched in over 30 years...how cool is that? I'm going to have to make a trip back with full day light to take pictures of this...
If you have not been, please email Yvonne and set up a time to tour it...it's worth the trip down memory lane :)

Beer, Beer, for all of Cohn High!
We get drunk on whiskey and rye!

Don't let a sober Sophomore in!

It also happens to boast the opportunity to look out over the Nashville skyline from the fourth story of the building. Warm, cherry wood walls are offset by floor-to-ceiling windows that soar up 25-feet. Flooded by natural light during the day, the library is even more dramatic at night when the soft glow of light is enhanced by the city-scape outside. It may seem hard to imagine that such an open and airy space can feel just as cozy as a family room, but that’s exactly what the library offers.
Dress…Semi-formal
Full course meal, offered by Soro Catering.
Price . $55.00 per person.
Travis has worked diligently to find the perfect venue to celebrate our 30th class reunion.
We also will have a multi class casual together on Friday the 6th, at Graham Central Station on 2nd Avenue. This activity is free of charge. Come and visit with class mates, while enjoying the private room at Graham Central Station. Entertainment will be provided by our very own classmates Steve, Randy, and Terry’s band "Caught Looking Back", aka the Burning Bold Spots. You may remember this classic rock band from our 25th reunion.

Now, at this time, we are asking for you to let us know, like YESTERDAY if you will be attending the main event on Saturday at the County Music Hall of Fame. We are at a dead line for making a deposit to hold this venue...Please email us back ASAP with YES /NO.
If you will be attending, please make your check payable to
Cohn High class of 79...and mail at once to:
